
America's Career InfoNet is one of the most impressive career sites on the Net. It is a complete one-stop careercenter at http://www.acinet.org/acinet/occ_sea1.htm . On your computer screen, you will see a menu search and akeyword search. Type "human resources" into the keyword search window; it will come up in another menu, choosea state and click the search button. You will see an Occupation Report with human resources wages for the state youselected and for the United States. Trends are also shown for the number of jobs in 1996 and the number expectedin 2006.
At the top of the frame, there are a number of choices for more information. Click Industry Trends, then HospitalsPublic and Private, then the Search button and you will have Human Resources figures for the Health Care Industry.Click on Detailed Trends and you will have an opportunity to compare the salaries and number of jobs for human resources with another field. Click on Detailed Wages, and you will be able to add a city and get another detailed chart comparing wages. At the top of the page, you can click on What it Takes to discover knowledges, skills and abilities necessary for the career field, human resources. You can even go to Fine Jobs , and you will be shown the jobs in Human Resources Management in the state that you specified. This one site, America's Career InfoNet, will give you an enormous amount of information and is a site you will want to use in the future.
One of my favorite features of this site is the "Job Description Writer." You click on Career Tools and then on JobDescription Writer. I typed in Compensation Manager and recieved ten related job titles. I clicked on Job andOccupational Analyst and recieved a complete description of the job and its skill requirements.It is one of the anchor sites for career counselors that should be at the top of our bookmarks. Within seconds youcan help clients find out detailed information about occupations or jobs they are considering.
