CELEBRATING THE DARK & THE LIGHT THE DARKNESS AND LIGHT INTERMINGLE AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, LIKE NO OTHER.

by Deborah Knox on December 18, 2017

The brightness of the sun finally gives way to early morning darkness and later afternoon shadows. Here in the southwest I find myself welcoming the dark as never before. Maybe it’s a more truthful mirror for these days as the natural occurrences environmentally, politically and even socially may feel less than natural. May the love and creativity that inhabit us all, serve to overcome the darkness.

ARE YOU READY TO WRITE YOUR STORY?  FOR YOURSELF OR FOR OTHERS?  IT’S A WONDERFUL WAY TO START A NEW YEAR.  I hope you’ll check out my group offerings at the end of the newsletter and find one that helps you put your story into words.  Blessings to you all.

Deb

I’m not alone I know in feeling grateful for the gifts of 2017.  For me it’s been a remarkable year, marked by some of these highlights:

* living with my POSSSLQ and sharing love, light, and laughter (for more information see our website and read our story at www.possslq.com)

* sharing the POSSSLQ story with others at Senior Centers, HOA’s and other special interest groups (LGBTQ) see calendar at www.possslq.com

* delivering a wonderful retreat at Ferry Beach Conference Center in Saco, Maine and facilitating it with my dear friend Gail McMeekin.  We had fun with 12 other women and one brave man creating soul collage cards and writing sections of spiritual autobiography as they filled in the map of their life journey. Hope to see some of you next year – see below.

* facilitating Collaborative Arts projects in an Adult Care Home for people with severe memory loss

* loving the month-long trip back East visiting friends and family members, as well as my family camp in New Hampshire.  Even got to spend two days on the coast of Maine with a woman who I haven’t seen in 50 plus years, though we went to college together and lived for one year as roommates in downtown Boston. What a trip that was down memory lane.

* being offered the position as part-time Assistant Coordinator for the Old Fort Lowell Live At Home Program matching volunteers with individuals requesting rides, socialization and other help to stay in their homes.

*  leading my writing Spiritual Autobiography groups for beginners and advanced writers.  They continue to inspire me and others to tell our stories before it’s too late.

The coyotes and bunnies (not together of course) ramble through the neighborhood and our backyard. The desert hues of flora and fauna and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets bring joy to my heart.

I am most grateful for family and friends near and far. I wish you peaceful hearts and minds and the knowledge that in the big scheme of things we truly are One. May your creativity and love serve us all.

Warm wishes from the heart.

Deb
